Pietro Piccoli

Pietro Piccoli was born in 1954 in the small town of Montopoli di Sabina in central Italy.  At a very young age he became fascinated with the arts and, at the age of sixteen, was enrolled by his parents in Latina's high school for the arts.

At age twenty  he pursued a formal artistic career in Rome, the epicenter of creative energy in the 1970's.  During this time, he exhibited at important Italian and international exhibitions in cities including Rome, Zurich, Vienna, Paris, Istanbul and Budapest.  After exposure to various art, artists and travels Piccoli transitioned into an experimental phase in his art, which allowed him to develop his signature style for which he is internationally recognized today.

Piccoli fuses elements of traditionalism and abstraction in his landscapes, seascapes and still life paintings.  Influences of impressionism, expressionism and fauvism aided him in the definition of his artistic vision as well.  His main subjects include boats at harbor, expansive landscapes with intimate visible villages, adorned Italian balconies and still lifes.

Emphasis on bright colors, theatrical lighting and geometric forms enhance the subjects of Piccoli's works.  The combination of these three elements result in inherently kinetic art that encompasses the transcendental beauty of the Mediterranean coast.
