Mixed media artist, Angel Wynn, combines painting and photography to create vintage, larger-than-life “postcards” reflecting the magnificent grandeur of our amazing State.
Plateaus, mesas and canyons embraced by mountains and deserts, along with a big river that runs right through the middle… this makes up the picturesque landscape of New Mexico. Add to the mix diverse cultures, ancient monuments and people full of spirit. Gallery 901 will host Angel Wynn’s most recent solo exhibit titled “Greetings From New Mexico”. This new art series echo’s vintage postcards with the exception of being created on a larger scale. Opening on Friday September 2, with an artist reception from 5 to 7pm, the show will run through September 27.
For years before making Santa Fe home, Wynn, a professional photographer, would visit New Mexico in her truck with camper and explore it’s nooks and crannies. “Greetings From New Mexico” is mixed media artwork that combines photographs, molten encaustic wax and oil colors. Subjects are roadside attractions and rural scenes that fascinate Wynn. “I’ve lived in many beautiful places but no other state has made me happier”, says Wynn, “This exhibit is my way of sharing the beautiful sites of New Mexico that are most treasured by me.”
