Emilio Paya was born on February 28, 1935 in Alcoy, Alicante, Spain. He began to paint at the age of fourteen. Due to his talent of drawing he was inspired and encouraged to begin training at this early age.
Upon turning eighteen Emilio began his formal training in art at the Arts and Crafts School in Alcoy, Alicante. He attended this school from 1949 to 1953 and received a Certificate of Success in Art. From there he continued his studies at the Fine Arts School in Alcoy, Alicante from 1954 to 1958. Here he received a Certificate of Success in Fine Arts. During his education and training he studied under the Spanish professor, Mr. Edmundo Jorda.
Payes began painting professionally when he was 28 years old. Since this time he has exhibited in galleries including Galerie Soria, Chateauroux, France in 1995 and Galerie Hispaluz, Concepcion, Chile in 1996The works of Payes are in private collections throughout Japan, Saudi Arabia, Germany and the United States. A list of Payes collectors includes Prince Fahd Bin Salman Bi of Saudi Arabia, individuals from the French Aristocracy and the Belgian Aristocracy.
